The group Reverie welcomed an enthusiastic audience to a memorable evening in the hauntingly beautiful surroundings of the Chapel Royal of St. Peter ad Vincula at the Tower of London.
Written by exceptional young British composer, Ben Rowarth, 'The Turn' reflected upon, interacted with and explored the harmonic possibilities of Monteverdi’s ‘Lamento D’Arianna’, the only surviving fragment of his opera ‘L’Arianna’.
Complementing the new commission, the rest of the programme explored other outstanding contemporary works that reflect upon earlier music, in particular Sven-David Sandström’s ‘Hear My Prayer’ and Judith Bingham’s ‘Darkness is no Darkness’.
