Visit of nuns from Tyburn Convent, February 2019
In late February 2019 a group of nuns from Tyburn Convent visited the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula to pray at the shrine of St Thomas More. The Tyburn nuns - the Benedictine Adorers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Montmartre - are an enclosed order who occupy a convent on the site of the old Tyburn Tree - a place of execution where many were hanged, drawn and quartered for their faith. One of the visiting sisters has taken the religious name of Sister Thomas More, so this visit was of especial significance to her. They were warmly received by the Chaplain, Canon Roger Hall, who assured tham that they are always welcome. On leaving, Sister Thomas More assured Canon Roger that she and her sisters would pray for our congregation.
